Nicole Byres

Nicole Byres is a partner and head of the labour and employment group in Miller Thomson LLP's Vancouver office. Her practise focuses on employment law, corporate governance and labour law, and she frequently writes, blogs and lectures on these topics.

Nearly half of Nicole's career was spent as in-house counsel at a major integrated mining, refining and energy generation company, where she obtained experience in a broad range of legal and business matters. This corporate experience, together with her involvement with boards (as director or legal counsel) of major institutions and corporations, has provided Nicole with a business and strategic perspective that her clients appreciate.

Nicole has appeared before various administrative tribunals and at all levels of courts in British Columbia. She has achieved much success at trial, but is also skilled at assisting her clients in reaching a negotiated settlement where possible.
