When to use this model retirement contract clause

Use this model contract clause where the employer intends the employee to be subject to a compulsory retirement age.

This clause can be included in a contract of employment. For example, see our Contract of employment for junior employee and Contract of employment for senior employee. However, it should only be used where the employer can show that that the compulsory retirement age achieves a legitimate aim that cannot be met in a less discriminatory way.
