- Childcare vouchers
remain the most popular benefit among UK employers in 2010.
- Despite the rising popularity of "green" benefits, the car still features
widely in benefits offerings. Free car parking is the
second most popular benefit.
- Car allowances, and
company cars are also
among the most popular benefits in 2010.
- Private medical
insurance is the most popular health-related benefit, and the third most
popular benefit in all.
- The proportion of employers offering private medical insurance in 2010 is
down only slightly from
2009, indicating that the recession has had little impact on the
popularity of what can be an expensive benefit to provide.
- Other health-related benefits in the top 10 list include employee assistance
programmes, permanent
health insurance and health screening.
- The recession has not resulted in a clear-cut pattern of cuts to benefits provision. In fact, the proportion of employers introducing new benefits during the recession (20.3%) is almost double the number that withdrew one or more benefits (10.2%).
