CIPD survey finds technical skills in short supply
Nearly half of UK employers anticipate skills shortages when recruiting staff with technical skills, according to new CIPD research.
These are among the findings of the CIPD Labour Market Outlook report, which replaces its Quarterly HR trends and indicators survey.
When asked about their expectations of skills shortages in the coming quarter, 49.3% of respondents cite technical skills. This is followed by professional skills and managerial skills (42.1% and 32%, respectively).
Nearly three in five employers (57.7%) cite a lack of requisite skills as the principal reason for recruitment difficulties.
