CRE's revised code on racial equality is introduced
The Commission for Racial Equality's revised Code of Practice on racial equality in employment is effective from 6 April 2006.
The code provides recommendations and guidance on avoiding racial discrimination and harassment in employment and outlines employers' legal obligations under the Race Relations Act 1976.
It has been updated to reflect changes to legislation and the body of case law that has built up since the Act came into force. Employment tribunals will take its recommendations into account as evidence in any legal proceedings brought under the Act on or after 6 April 2006.
