Fit for Work service: policies and documents updated
XpertHR's sickness and sick pay policies and documents have been revised to take account of the availability of the Government's new Fit for Work service, which is aimed at supporting employers to help employees on long-term sickness absence return to work.
Model documents updated include:
- Letter asking employee on long-term sickness absence for preferred method of keeping in contact An employer without an occupational health department may wish to alert the employee to the Fit for Work service as a source of support.
- Checklist for making home visit to employee on long-term sickness absence A home visit is a good opportunity to discuss a referral to the Fit for Work service with the employee.
- Letter inviting employee to attend meeting to discuss phased return to work following long-term sickness absence Discussions during a meeting about the progress of an employee's phased return to work may be informed by any return-to-work plan provided by the Fit for Work service.
- Letter setting out arrangements for phased return to work following long-term sickness absence Arrangements for an employee's phased return to work may be informed by any return-to-work plan provided by the service.
- Letter inviting an employee to attend a meeting following a period of sickness absence A meeting following an employee's return from sick leave is a good time to discuss any recommendations that the Fit for Work service has made.
- Form to record short-term sickness absence return-to-work meeting A new section is included to allow for discussion of adjustments recommended by the Fit for Work Service in a return-to-work plan.
