- Doctor dismissed for alleged gross professional misconduct loses breach of contract claim In Edwards v Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust [2009] EWHC 2011 HC, the High Court rejected the breach of contract claim of a doctor who was dismissed for professional misconduct. He brought the claim on the basis that his employer failed to give him the opportunity to exonerate himself in properly conducted disciplinary proceedings. (Personnel Today)
