Centralised vetting system for people working with children

The Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 introduces a centralised vetting system for people working with children and vulnerable adults in the autumn.

The Act provides a legislative framework for a single list of people banned from working with children and vulnerable adults, which is expected to be introduced in autumn 2008. The new list will integrate List 99 (for teaching); the Protection of Children Act lists (for childcare); and the Protection of Vulnerable Adults list.
