Data briefing: International comparisons of productivity
Key findings
New data from
National Statistics shows that UK productivity, measured as GDP per worker,
is lower than that of France and the USA, similar to that of Germany and
higher than that of Japan.
On the basis of GDP per hour
worked, the relative position of each country in relation to the UK remains
unchanged, but both France and Japan move further away from the centre as the
most extreme examples of high and low productivity.
