Scotland: There are no future developments specific to Scotland.

Northern Ireland: On 1 July 2024, the Northern Ireland Government launched a consultation on The 'Good Jobs' Employment Rights Bill. The consultation contains proposals aimed at "strengthening employment legislation" which may progress under an Employment Bill and supporting secondary legislation, and seeks views on:

  • implementing an additional period of redundancy protection for pregnant employees and returners from family leave; and
  • whether it is desirable to introduce the offence of personal liability as it relates to the collective redundancy notification process.

The consultation closed on 30 September 2024.
