Summary

  • While an employer licensed by the Qatar Financial Centre must not refuse to employ, or discriminate against a person regarding employment, because of certain specified characteristics of that person, in Qatar generally there is no legislation specifically prohibiting discrimination in recruitment and selection.   • In Qatar generally, employers are obliged to inform the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) of any job vacancies, within one month of the vacancy arising, giving details of the job description and pay. (See Advertising vacancies)
  • While in Qatar generally Qatari nationals require a "registration certificate" issued by the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs (MADLSA) in order to enter employment, this is not the case for Qatari nationals recruited by an employer licensed by the Qatar Financial Centre.   • In Qatar generally, there are various rules relating to the employment of young people. (See Young people and children)
  • In order to be employed anywhere in Qatar (including the Qatar Financial Centre), foreign nationals are required to have a valid work residence permit. (See Foreign nationals)
