Extension of Fair Work Agency's enforcement activities to national minimum wage

Implementation date: April 2027

While the Fair Work Agency launched on 7 April 2026, it is rolling out its enforcement activities gradually, starting its national minimum wage enforcement activities from April 2027.

The Employment Rights Act 2025 established a single labour market enforcement body. The new body is responsible for enforcing, among other things, the national minimum wage.

However, the policy paper Strategic steer to the Fair Work Agency states that HM Revenue and Customs will continue to deliver national minimum wage enforcement in 2026/2027 via a contracting arrangement and the Fair work Agency will take over enforcement from April 2027.

See Fair Work Agency for more information.
