Modern Slavery Act 2015 comes into force
Implementation date: 31 July 2015
The Modern Slavery Act 2015 is introduced, simplifying and codifying the law on modern slavery. It is commenced by the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (Commencement No.1, Saving and Transitional Provisions) Regulations 2015 (SI 2015/1476). The Act includes two offences: one for human trafficking and another for forced or compulsory labour, slavery or servitude. The Act also introduces slavery and trafficking prevention orders and slavery and trafficking risk orders, which can be modified to address the risks posed by the offender.
