Paternity bereavement leave

Implementation date: Expected 2026

The Paternity Leave (Bereavement) Act 2024 allows an employee to take paternity leave as a day-one right if the child's mother or adopter dies.

Regulations are required to set out further detail of the right and to bring the Act into force. The Government has said that it expects to implement the right in 2026.
