The Scottish joint industrial council for the road haulage industry has agreed a new one-year deal, effective 1 April 2005. The settlement, covering around 10,000 drivers and mates, awarded pay increases of up to 3.5 7%, depending on vehicle weight. The agreement is negotiated between employer members of the Road Haulage Association and the Transport and General Workers' Union.
