Absence levels on the rise, CIPD survey finds

The latest annual survey1 of sickness absence published by the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD) suggests that the average level of employee sick leave increased slightly to 3.7% of available working time in 2007, taking the headline figure back to its 2005 level, following its lowest ever rate of 3.5% last year.

Manual workers continue to have higher average annual absence levels than their non-manual colleagues - at 4.3% and 2.7% respectively.
