Austria: Labour market participation predicted to rise
The Austrian institute of economic research (Österreichisches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung,Wifo) has recently published a study predicting a rise in employee numbers by 2025.
The institute based its
calculations on two alternative models of demographic change - the main
difference relates to estimates of the number of migrant workers, according to
data provided by the country's statistical service, Statistics
The first model (published in December 2006) predicts a growth in the population from 8.23 million at present to 8.54 million in 2015 and 8.75 million in 2025.
