Austria: More employees entitled to severance pay

A new evaluation of changes to the severance pay system that were introduced in 2003 (EER 346 p.23) finds that half of all employees are now entitled to claim severance pay when their jobs finish - considerably more than under the previous system, whereby employees needed three years' continuous service before they could claim any payments.

The reforms also changed employers' obligations.
