"Compensation culture" is a media myth

Claims that the UK is in the grip of a "compensation culture" are a myth fuelled by the media and claims management companies, according to research by an independent advisory group set up by the government.

In its report, Better routes to redress¹, the Better Regulation Task Force says that it is a common, but mistaken, belief that large sums of money are easily accessible as compensation for personal injury, which encourages people to "have a go".
