"Compensation culture" is a media myth
Claims that the UK is in the grip of a "compensation culture" are a myth fuelled by the media and claims management companies, according to research by an independent advisory group set up by the government.
In its report, Better routes to redress1, the Better Regulation Task Force says that it is a common, but mistaken, belief that large sums of money are easily accessible as compensation for personal injury, which encourages people to "have a go".
