EU: Survey reveals profile of EU workforce

The findings of the Eurostat labour force survey for 2009, published in August 2010, indicate that 18% of the EU workforce worked part time and 13.5% had temporary contracts, while the usual weekly working time of full-time employees averaged 40.4 hours.

According to the Eurostat survey, in 2009 there were 217.8 million people aged 15 and over in employment in the EU, a drop of 1.8% compared with the 2008 figure.
