Factfile: Personal wealth

We present a selection of statistics on the value of pension assets and non-pension financial wealth, as quoted in the first report of the Pensions Commission.

While pension saving plays a major role in the UK's economy and in provision for retirement, it accounts for about 20% of net personal sector wealth held in financial and physical assets, if the value of state pension and of unfunded public sector pensions is ignored.
