Finland: High fines for strike in paper industry
In early January 2007, the Labour Court handed down unusually heavy fines on trade unions involved in illegal industrial action in paper and pulp mills in May 2006. Almost 20,000 factory and office workers took part in the three-day strike, held in protest at planned job cuts in industry (EER 390 p.6).
