Germany: IG Metall demands 6.5% pay rise

On 26 February 2007, the executive committee of the IG Metall metalworkers' trade union recommended that its regional negotiators pursue a claim for a 6.5% pay increase in this year's bargaining round in the engineering and electrical industry (Germany: Negotiators gear up for busy 2007 bargaining round). As yet, it is not clear which bargaining region will conclude the key "pilot settlement" for this year.
