Germany: Pay settlement reached in construction sector

Basic pay for the 680,000 employees in the construction industry will rise by 3.1% with effect from 1 May 2007, following a “pay pause” for April, under an agreement that runs until 31 March 2008. In addition, employees will receive a non-consolidated sum paid monthly and equivalent to 0.4% of a month’s wage.
