HSE names high health hazard industries

Workers in public administration and defence, education, and health and social work have some of the highest rates of work-related ill health.

National Statistics and the HSE have supplemented figures from the Self-reported work-related illness survey 2001/02 (SWI01/02) (Work-related ill health 2001/02) with information on claims for disablement benefit from the Industrial Injuries Scheme (IIS) and The Health and Occupation Reporting network (THOR - formerly ODIN), which comprises specialist doctors seeing cases of work-related ill health.
