Inflation continues to outstrip pay deals

Private sector pay settlements continue the high trend seen in 2007 so far, but most remain well below the level of headline inflation. With the busiest part of the pay bargaining year over, a further surge in the value of pay deals this year looks unlikely, with inflation predicted to fall back.
