Italy: Unions call for action on low incomes

Figures issued by the National Institute for Statistics (Istat) on 17 January 2008 indicate that many people have low incomes and that the number of poor families is increasing. Trade unions have called for immediate government measures to address the issue and are organising protests in support of their demands.
