Legislation comes of age
With age discrimination in employment and vocational
training set to be outlawed in 2006, our survey of 83 employing organisations
assesses the current state of play on age diversity.
Key points
Around four in 10 employers do not currently have
any formal or informal policy in place on age diversity or age
discrimination.
Typically, organisations do not formally set
either minimum or maximum ages when recruiting new employees - it is more
likely that implicit assumptions about older workers are influential in
terms of discrimination in recruitment and promotion. |
