Managing long-term absence and rehabilitation: part 1
Our survey of 896 manufacturing workplaces gives a unique insight into the way smaller firms handle long-term absence and rehabilitation.
This research is based on a joint IRS/EEF survey of long-term absence in 896 manufacturing workplaces.
Long-term absence is becoming a more important management issue in half of the surveyed sites, driven by senior level concern at the cost of this type of sick leave, and the fact that it is rising as a proportion of total absence while short-term absence is brought under control.
A median of 4.56 days per employee was lost to absence in 2002, equal to 2% of available working time. |
