Merger most horrid for takeover targets

People who work for a company that is taken over are significantly more likely to leave the organisation in the first two years than are the employees of the "predator" company, according to a detailed study by the Department of Trade and Industry.

Using econometric techniques, the authors of the report show that there is nothing to distinguish the workforce characteristics of firms on either side of a takeover.
