Myers finds limited solace in construction initiative

Almost two years after the major construction bodies agreed on a significant initiative to tackle the industry's woeful injury and ill-health record, HSE construction chief Kevin Myers has found that "the dichotomy between effort and results remains".

Myers's comments come in his second report1 on the progress made by the construction industry following a safety "summit" in February 2001 called by the Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott ("Does it have to be this way?" - last chance for construction).
