Myers finds limited solace in construction initiative

Almost two years after the major construction bodies agreed on a significant initiative to tackle the industry's woeful injury and ill-health record, HSE construction chief Kevin Myers has found that "the dichotomy between effort and results remains".

Myers's comments come in his second report¹ on the progress made by the construction industry following a safety "summit" in February 2001 called by the Deputy Prime Minister, John Prescott ("Does it have to be this way?" - last chance for construction).
