Poland: Number of jobseekers linked to benefit entitlement
Recent studies by national employment offices indicate that many people registered as unemployed are not genuinely looking for work - they estimate that between 20% and 30%, or roughly 500,000 people, are not genuine jobseekers but are signing on to receive certain benefits. As a result, it is claimed, these offices are acting as claims processors, rather than assisting unemployed people to find a job, and around 75% of the offices' 18,000 employees are dealing with administration instead of helping people find work.
