Public sector pay review bodies: most increases staged

The government accepts the recommendations made by the pay review bodies, but its determination to avoid "inflationary" increases means that the majority are to be paid in two stages - reducing the annual increases to be received by public sector employees.

Key points

  • All pay review body recommendations, with the exception of those relating to the military, are to be implemented in two parts, with the first stage payable on 1 April 2007 and the second from 1 November 2007, reducing the value of an award worth 2.5% to 1.9% over 12 months.
