Spain: Partial retirement increasingly popular
According to a report published by the tripartite consultative Economic and Social Council (CES) in June 2007, companies are making increasing use of a partial retirement scheme introduced in 2003, and some 13% of older workers now leave the labour market through this route.
Partial retirement (jubilación parcial) allows workers who have reached the age of 61 (or 60 in the case of those who started paying social security contributions before 1967) to work part time until full retirement at the age of 65.
