Spain: Pay settlements fall
The average collectively agreed pay increase in Spain stood at 2.67% in the first eight months of 2009, compared with 3.49% in the same period of 2008, according to latest figures from the Ministry of Labour.
For the first time since 2002, in 2009 the main employers' organisations and trade union confederations failed to agree a national framework for collective bargaining at sector and company level, setting out guidelines on pay rises and other issues.
