Survey reveals shape of pensions auto-enrolment

For the past 38 years, one of the principal surveys gauging trends in workplace pensions has been conducted by The National Association of Pension Funds (NAPF). Its latest research indicates how employers are responding to auto-enrolment, in addition to a wide range of other topics.

Key points

  • The NAPF's latest annual survey, conducted in autumn 2012, shows that at that time, 85% of respondents planned to use a defined-contribution (DC) scheme for auto-enrolment purposes. Slightly more employers planned to use a contract-based plan than a trust-based arrangement.
