Key points

  • Of the 86 organisations participating in the 2007 IRS workplace training survey, 74 say that the alignment of employee skills with the organisation’s goals is a major consideration when planning learning and development activities.

  • In contrast, just 18 say providing basic numeracy and literacy skills is a key driver.

  • Annual budgets range from £12,000 to £25 million, or, in terms of approximate amount per employee, from £29 to £1,250.
