UK eighth in equality table

The UK ranks eighth in the first ever study attempting to quantify the size of the "gender gap" in 58 countries. Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Denmark and Finland take the top five places, while the US (17), Switzerland (34), Japan (38), Brazil (51), India (53) and Turkey (57) do less well - with Egypt languishing at the bottom of the table.
