UK study confirms health promotion/productivity link
A structured health promotion programme significantly improves effectiveness at work, and cuts absence, by improving health status, according to the interim results of a 12-month study by UK consultants Vielife, in conjunction with the US Institute for Health and Productivity Management.
Annual savings of £1,400 per person due to reduced absence and increased productivity in return for a relatively modest investment in health promotion make a strong business case for investing in health at work, according to Dr Peter Mills, chief health officer at Vielife.
