Work deaths fall to second lowest total
The number of employed and self-employed workers killed in Great Britain in 2001/02 fell to 249 - only the second time that the annual toll has dropped below 250.
The fall, from 292 the previous year, is reflected in a 15% drop in the fatal injury rate over the same period, from 1.03 to 0.88 per 100,000 workers (employees and self-employed).
