Notify the employee of the outcome of an appeal in relation to a statutory request in relation to study or training
Key points
The employer may uphold an appeal against the refusal of a statutory request in relation to study or training without holding a meeting with the employee to discuss it, or may uphold or reject the appeal following an appeal hearing.
The employer must notify the employee of the outcome of the appeal in writing within a specified timescale.
If the appeal is refused, the employer must set out the grounds for the refusal.
If the appeal is upheld with the result that the employer agrees to the employee's request in relation to study or training, it must set out a number of specified details about the training, including whether or not the employee will be paid for the time spent on the training.
