Report an injury, fatality or dangerous occurrence

Legislation requires that, in certain circumstances, accidents at work must be notified to the relevant health and safety enforcing authority without delay and by the quickest practicable means. A report must be sent within 10 days of the incident.
The circumstances when this is required include: when someone who is at work suffers a "specified injury" (for example an amputation, serious burns or unconsciousness caused by a head injury) as a result of a work-related accident; when any person dies as a result of a work-related accident; and when a "dangerous occurrence" arises out of, or in connection with, work.
There are also reporting and record-keeping requirements where a person at work is unable to do their normal work for more than seven consecutive days due to an injury resulting from an accident arising out of, or in connection with, that work.
