When to use this medical reports flowchart
Use this medical reports flowchart to obtain a medical report on an employee's health or medical condition, in accordance with the requirements of the Access to Medical Reports Act 1988 and the General Data Protection Regulation, which is in force from 25 May 2018.
The flowchart could be used where the employee has had frequent, persistent short-term sickness absences or is on long-term sickness absence.
Key steps
- Request employee's consent to the medical report
- Request medical report, confirming employee wishes to see it, and notify employee that report has been requested
- Review report and take any appropriate action
