Extension of time limits for bringing employment tribunal claims
Implementation date: October 2026
The Employment Rights Bill has been amended to include provision to extend the time limit for bringing an employment tribunal claim to six months.
The time limit for most claims is currently three months. The change will apply to all employment tribunal claims, including unfair dismissal and discrimination.
The Government has confirmed, in Implementing the Employment Rights Bill: Our roadmap for delivering change, that this measure will take effect in October 2026.
