Fashion retailer Next has awarded an across-the-board rise of 2.8% to retail staff and managers, effective from 1 February 2004. The same increase has also been awarded to call centre staff, who work on the Next Directory mail order service, and to head office staff. The company anticipates making a further increase to its lowest rate of pay for sales consultants later in the year, as this is currently below the level of the national minimum wage projected for October 2004.
