Barclays Bank: Second year of partnership deal
In 1999, Barclays reached an agreement with finance unions Unifi and BIFU (now combined into UNIFI) over the introduction of a three-year pay and benefits package covering around 50,000 clerical and managerial staff, effective from April of last year. The second phase of the deal, effective 1 April 2000, sees the overall pay bill rise by 2.15% (the November 1999 retail prices index plus 0.75%), with individual salary awards of up to 4.4% depending on employees' current salary position and performance assessment.
