Belgium: VW white-collar redundancy agreement
As part of a major restructuring exercise, production of Volkswagen's Golf model is being relocated from Forest/Vorst in Belgium to Wolfsburg, Germany. After 4,000 job losses (out of 5,400 at the plant) were initially announced, workers went on strike and a "social agreement" was reached that reduced job losses to 3,000 and provided for generous voluntary redundancy and early retirement schemes (Belgium: Restructuring deal at Volkswagen).
