Comet has awarded a 2% basic increase to its 7,000 retail staff and managers, its 1,200 aftersales staff and 1,000 employees in its home delivery service, effective from 1 July 2004. Around 450 head office staff and 350 call centre employees received the same increase. Additional rises from a 0.5% paybill budget were also awarded to specific employee groups to adjust pay levels to market rates.
