Commission: Launch of CSR forum

The European Commission launched a European multi-stakeholder forum to look at issues surrounding corporate social responsibility (CSR) on 18 October 2002.The forum will report its findings to the Commission by mid-2004.

The launch of this new forum fulfills the promise set out by the Commission in its strategy on CSR, unveiled on 2 July 2002 (Commission: New strategy on corporate social responsibility). The forum will be chaired by the Commission and comprise some 20 representatives of enterprises, trade unions, non-governmental organisations, investors, consumers and other stakeholders in this area.
