Minimum rates set by the Construction Industry
Joint Council rose by 7.17% as part of the second stage of a three-year pay and
conditions agreement, effective from 28 June 2004.
Rates for apprentices rose by up to 16% from the same date. Covering an
estimated 500,000 operatives, skilled and craft workers, the deal was
negotiated between the employers' organisation, the Construction Confederation,
and the GMB, TGWU and UCATT trade unions, and is worth a total of just over 23%
over the 36-month life of the settlement.
